I am a proud mother of six wonderful children and a grandmother to nine amazing grandchildren. While five of my children are grown and independent, I still have one daughter at home who is autistic and faces mental health challenges.

My household is also filled with the love of my fur babies. Charlie, my male Maltese, is my confidant. Joey, an affectionate orange cat, is my cuddle buddy and the most loving kitty you could ask for. Then there’s Jack, a sweet rescue cat I’ve had since he was just three weeks old. Jack and Joey share a special bond, and I often joke that Joey is like Jack’s daddy.

In addition to my family and pets, I am a cancer and stroke survivor living with C-PTSD and severe chronic pain.

On January 6th, 2021, while shopping for one of my daughters’ birthdays, I was involved in a hit-and-run accident caused by someone under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Our car flipped twice, and although we landed upright, it was filled with snow. The cold snow cushioned the impact, saving both my life and the life of my daughter who was driving.

During my recovery, a dear friend sent me a knitting loom set and some yarn. I had no idea that learning to knit would become my salvation. Knitting quickly became a calming activity that helped me manage my depression. Over time, I expanded my crafting skills to include making bows, tutus, jewelry, and more. Crafting has been a crucial part of my mental healing and I hope it will lead me to financial independence.
